Man, 34, seriously injured and car torched after assault at Wishaw property

A man has been hospitalised with serious injuries following an assault and deliberate car fire at a Wishaw property.

The incident happened at around 9.25pm on Thursday (March 4), at a property on Ettrick Street when two men entered the home and seriously assaulted the 34-year-old victim before setting fire to a vehicle outside the property.

The victim was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Police Scotland is now appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable David Duers, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim who sustained serious injuries as a result.

“The suspects arrived and left the scene in a dark coloured vehicle, believed to be a Volvo. I would encourage anyone who saw the vehicle before or after the incident to get in touch with police.

“Anyone with information which could assist our investigation is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 3192 of 4 March.”
