Man, 34, released after arrest over woman being knocked down in Bothwell

A man has been released after being arrested in connection with a woman being knocked down in Bothwell.

The 34-year-old was arrested after an incident in which a car struck a stationary car, which then struck the woman on Uddingston Road at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, 22 December, 2021.

Lanarkshire Live yesterday told how two police vehicles and an ambulance were spotted at the scene yesterday afternoon. It was locally reported that the woman was a local lollipop lady.

It is understood the collision took place at a crossing point for school children on Uddingston Road, near to Bothwell Primary.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed enquiries are ongoing.

She said: "Police received report of a crash after a car struck a stationary car which subsequently struck the woman on Uddingston Road at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, 22 December, 2021..

"A 34-year-old man was arrested and released and enquiries are ongoing."
