Man, 34, hit head off kerb when attacked in Gallowgate as police launch appeal

A 34-year-old man was left with a serious head injury after hitting his head of the kerb when attacked by an unknown assailant.

Police have since launched an investigation into the incident and issued an appeal to the public.

The man was attacked at around 9.00pm on Friday, July 23 in the East End of the city, close to the junction of Melbourn Street.

He was taken to the Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police are now searching for a man in his mid-to-late 30s with tanned skin, dark hair, around 5'10" and wearing an orange t-shirt and blue shorts.

Detective Constable Jamie Whitton of CID said: “The victim was walking east on Gallowgate when he was approached by a man and assaulted, which resulted in him striking his head on the kerb.

"We are keen to trace a man described as being mid to late 30s, tanned skin, dark hair and around 5'10” in height. He was wearing an orange t-shirt and blue shorts.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the assault or came to the victim’s aid to come forward. I would appeal to anyone who has dash-cam or CCTV footage to contact us as soon as possible, you may have captured something that could assist our investigation.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 1641 of Thursday, 29 July.”
