Man, 34, dies after crash with bus on Upper Parliament Street

A 34-year-old man has died in hospital after being hit by a bus in Upper Parliament Street, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Upper Parliament Street at around 2pm on Wednesday 18 September 2019 following reports of a crash involving a man and a bus.

Daniel Thorpe, 34, of Highbury Vale, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital but died soon afterwards.

An air ambulance was also dispatched to Old Market Square, but failed to land, eventually touching down at the Forest Recreation Ground. The city centre was brought to a standstill for several hours while police closed the road and conducted an investigation.
