Inquest opens into death of man who died

A 33-year-old man died after taking an overdose, an inquest has heard.

An inquest opened into the death of Salford-born Samuel Dickenson on Friday afternoon (September 4).

Mr Dickenson called for an ambulance after taking an overdose of a chemical at his home in Wilkinson Street, Leigh, but seemingly collapsed while on the phone, the inquest heard.

Police coroner's officer Andrew Pickles told Bolton Coroner's Court: "On March 11, Mr Dickenson contacted ambulance control and informed them that he had taken an overdose.

"The ambulance and police attended shortly after to find Mr Dickenson unresponsive.

"He was then taken to Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and despite efforts of CPR, the doctors were unable to revive Mr Dickenson. His death was diagnosed at 3.53am on March 11."

The inquest has been adjourned, with a review set to take place to determine a date for a full hearing.
