A man has been found dead at a house in Heywood.
Police made the discovery after being called to a 'report of a sudden death of a man' on Tonge Street at around 7.10pm last night (Thursday).
The man, aged 26, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries into his death are ongoing, police said.
Pictures taken at the scene last night showed forensic officers outside a house.
This morning (Friday), one police car was parked up on the road.
One neighbour told the Manchester Evening News: "I’ve seen him sat out the front talking to people.
“I only saw him the other day. I’ve probably spoken to him two or three times.
“It’s really sad.”
Another said: “We just the ambulance at first and then lots of police around 7pm.
“There were at least four or five police vans and cars and the street was blocked off at one end.
“They were knocking on doors asking when we had last seen a person who lives there.”
Another resident said: “CSI came early this morning and four guys in suits were going in and out of the house.”
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called around 7.10pm on Thursday 13 May 2021 to Tonge Street, Heywood to a report of the sudden death of a man.
"Emergency services attended and a 26-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
