Man, 32, dies after being hit by train in Stockport

A man has died after being hit by a train in Stockport .

Emergency services were called to the tracks near Hazel Grove just before 7am on Monday morning.

A 32-year-old man from Stockport was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said officers were now trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Train services between Hazel Grove and Buxton were stopped for several hours while investigation work was carried out.

They said in a statement: "Officers were called to the lines close to Hazel Grove, Stockport at 6.55am on Monday, June 24, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however a 32-year-old man from Stockport was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"His family have been informed and officers are currently working to establish the circumstances behind his death.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner."
