Man, 32, 'died in street' as police remove white van from scene

Forensics are currently combing the scene of a murder after the body of a man was found.

Police were called to Eastbourne Road, Southport around 4.50pm today where the body of a 32-year-old man was discovered.

A 23-year-old man and a 32-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Earlier in the evening witnesses had reported seeing two air ambulances landing in Compton Park, around the corner from Eastbourne Road where the man was found.

Others reported seeing paramedics attempting to resuscitate the victim, who was in the street.

Merseyside Police confirmed the man's next of kin have been informed and were being supported by officers.

Tonight a big cordon was placed around a stretch of road, from Upper Aughton Road to Bury Road, which is occupied by houses and shops.

A tent had also been put up on Eastbourne Road as detectives and forensic teams carried out their investigations.

Reports from witnesses at the scene suggested the man had been stabbed, however this has not been confirmed by police.

A white transit van could also be seen being taken away from the scene this evening, with suggestions from residents nearby that a vehicle had been involved in the incident.

A number of other cars can also be seen inside the cordon and officers
