Man, 30s, tragically dies after Wexford crash

A man died after a crash in a small Wexford village late last night.

The tragic single-vehicle incident happened at Newtown, Taghmon, at around 11.30pm.

The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai are now appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time, particularly those with dash-cam footage, to come forward.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 11:30pm on Saturday, 26th September, 2020, at Newtown, Taghmon, County Wexford.

"The driver of the car involved, a man in his early 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

"The road is currently closed for technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

"Gardaí at Wexford are appealing for any witnesses to this collision or for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at this time to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Wexford Garda Station on 053 9165200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
