Man, 30s, charged in connection with €137K drugs seizure in Westmeath

A man in his 30s has been charged in connection with a massive drugs haul in Co Westmeath.

Gardai made the bust after searching a car in Mullingar on Monday afternoon.

After seizing a small amount of cannabis from a car, officers raided a home and found €135,000 worth of drugs.

Just over €2,500 of cannabis was recovered from the vehicle after it was stopped and searched on Monday in the Green Road area of Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

The find led to a probe at a house in the Ashe Road area of the town - where officers discovered a large amount of suspected amphetamines.

A man, in his 30s, was arrested and detained at Mullingar Garda Station.

He has since been charged and will appear before Athlone District Court on Wednesday morning at approximately 10:30am.
