Man, 30s, arrested after gardai seize cocaine worth €200,000 in Dublin

A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with a drugs seizure in Dublin on Saturday.

Gardai seized what they suspect to be cocaine worth around €200,000 during a search operation.

They found the drugs during a search of a home in Tallaght at around 8.30pm.

A man was arrested at the scene and taken to Tallaght Garda Station for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been charged and is expected to appear before a sitting of Tallaght District Court later in October.

Gardai say that the drugs will be sent for analysis and that their investigations are ongoing.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí have seized €200,000 worth of suspected cocaine following a planned search operation in Tallaght, Dublin on 2nd October 2021.

"At approximately 8:30pm last night, Gardaí conducted a search of a residential property in Tallaght. During the course of the search €200,000 worth of Cocaine (analysis pending) was seized.

"A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and detained for questioning at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. He has since been charged and is expected to appear before a sitting of Tallaght District Court later this month.

"The operation was led by uniformed and detective Gardaí based in Tallaght as part of Operation Tara.

"The drugs will now be sent for analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).

"Investigations are ongoing."
