Man, 30s, arrested after Dublin pharmacy staff threatened at knife point in terrifying robbery

A man has been arrested following a terrifying robbery at a Dublin pharmacy on Wednesday.

The scary ordeal happened at around 5.20pm when a dangerous thug entered the shop in Finglas and started threatening staff with a knife.

He made off with a sum of cash and some medication before fleeing the scene on foot.

A man, aged in his 30s, was later found by Gardai who were searching the area and was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.

He is currently being detained in Blanchardstown Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardai have arrested a man, aged in his 30s, in relation to the robbery of a pharmacy in Finglas, Dublin 11 on Wednesday, 28th October 2020.

"At approximately 5.20pm, the man entered the premises armed with a knife and proceeded to threaten staff. During the course of the aggravated robbery, the man took a sum of cash and a quantity of medication. He then fled the scene on foot.

"Gardai located the offending male during a follow-up search of the area. He was arrested and the stolen property was recovered. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 in Blanchardstown Garda Station.

"Investigations are ongoing."
