A man was killed after being hit by a car travelling in the opposite direction which collided with him.
The 30-year-old pedestrian was walking along the Machen straight A468 in Caerphilly at around 8.35pm on Friday when the collision involving a black Mercedes AMG C Class took place.
The man, from Cwmbran, was later pronounced dead at the scene.
A 25-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
The road was partially closed while investigations took place but is now fully re-opened.
Witnesses have been asked to contact Gwent Police on 101 quoting reference number 2000414186 if they have any information about the incident.
