Man, 30, horrified after finding FLIES in McDonald’s meal instead of fries

A man was left horrified when his McDonald’s burger meal reportedly showed up with FLIES in it instead of fries.

Matt Growcoot, 30, ordered a Large Quarter Pounder with cheese meal from the McDonald’s in Oldbury, Birmingham, through delivery service Uber Eats on Saturday.

But when he opened the £9.09 meal up at his house, he was disappointed to see that the meal was missing a portion of fries.

Yet that was not it - when he bit in to his Quarter Pounder with cheese, he claims he was shocked to discover that the burger was filled with live insects.

Matt, who is a photographer, said: “It was absolutely disgusting. As soon as I bit into the quarter pounder, I could feel something buzzing inside the burger bun.

“I spat it out immediately back into the box. Then as I looked inside the quarter pounder, I could see two lives flies lodged right inside the cheeseburger and bun.

“It was unbelievable. Not only had McDonald’s forgotten to give me fries with my order, they had given me flies instead!

“McDonald’s used to be my favourite treat but now I’m worried about the restaurant’s hygiene standards. I don’t think I could ever stomach their food again.”

Matt reported the appalling order to Uber Eats who refunded him £5.59 for the meal – but still charged him £3.50 for delivery of the contaminated food.

Following this, the 30-year-old complained to Uber Eats again but has not yet received a response.

He also wrote an email to McDonald's and said he was looking into reporting them to the Food Standards Agency.
