Man, 30, hit by car remains critically ill in hospital

A 30-year-old man is still fighting for life after he was struck by a car last week.

Emergency services were called at 9.50pm on December 23 to a crash between a pedestrian and an Audi in Rainhill.

Police said the man suffered serious head injuries in the Warrington Road crash.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has remained in a critical condition since, a spokesperson for the force said today.

The driver stopped at the scene and is helping Merseyside Police with their enquiries.

Police are appealing for information over the incident, which led to the closure of the road between Holt Lane and Longton Lane.
