Man, 29, in hospital after falling from M56 motorway bridge

A man has suffered serious injuries after he fell from a motorway bridge.

The 29-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident on Monday, April 13.

Emergency services were called to the bridge on Simonsway, in Wythenshawe, which stretches over a section of the M56.

A police spokeswoman said the man suffered serious injures, but is not believed to be in a life-threatening condition.

The M56 was closed eastbound between junction four and five for an hour and a half last night while emergency services attended the scene, shortly before 8pm.

It re-opened again at around 9.20pm.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 8pm on Monday, April 13, police were called to Simonsway, Manchester to a report that a man had fallen from a bridge.

"Emergency services attended and a 29-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."
