Man, 28, suffers serious injuries after being hit by car on East Lancashire Road

Merseyside Police have issued an update on the cyclist who was hit by a car on a section of the East Lancashire Road last night.

The emergency services were called out to the junction of the East Lancs Road and Moorgate Road in Kirkby at around 8.10pm on Sunday after reports of an accident.

Police confirmed a cyclist, a 28-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment after being hit by a Ford Fiesta.

He is reported to have suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries to his head and leg.

The driver of the Fiesta stopped at the scene.

Sections of the East Lancashire Road and Moorgate Road were both closed but have since reopened.
