Man, 28, fighting for life after being found unconscious in the street

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being found unconscious in a Wigan street.

A passer-by found the 28-year-old man collapsed in Ormskirk Road, Pemberton, at 3.25pm on Tuesday (March 30).

Detectives are investigating how he suffered his injuries and how he came to be there.

Paramedics attended the scene, close to the junction with Ellesmere Road, and the man was taken to hospital to be treated for a head injury.

He remains there in a critical condition, police say.

Detective Constable Barry Conway, of Wigan CID, said: "We are trying to establish the circumstances which led up to the injured male being found.

"We are appealing for information from anyone in the area of Ormskirk Road around 3.25pm on Tuesday, or anyone with any dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident."

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 3034 quoting 2462-30032021, the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or make a report via the Greater Manchester Police website.
