Man, 27, who died after attack in east London named by police as Jay John

A 27-year-old man who died after an attack in east London has been named by police.

Police scrambled to Trinity Close, in Dalston, on Saturday at around 12.30pm to reports of an assault.

The victim, who police have named as Jay John, was taken to an east London hospital, where he died the next day.

A post-mortem held on Tuesday gave his provisional cause of death as head injuries, Scotland Yard said.

Mr John's next of kin have been made aware.

A 26-year-old man arrested on suspicion of Jay's murder appeared at Thames' Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
