Man, 27, seriously injured after hit-and-run in Dublin city centre

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was left for dead after being hit in Dublin City Centre.

The incident happened on busy Amiens Street on Thursday May 9th.

The man was treated by the Dublin Fire Brigade before being rushed to The Mater where he remains over a week later receiving treatment.

The 27-year-old from Fairview is believed to have been struck by a "dark saloon type car" according to a gardai spokesperson who asked anyone in the area who may have information to come forward.

They said: "Gardaí are appealing for information following a hit and run collision on Amiens Street, Dublin on the 9th May 2019.

"At approximately 10.20pm a motorcyclist was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on Amiens Street near the junction of Store Street.

"The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man from the Fairview area, was treated at the scene by members of DFB. He was removed by Ambulance to the Mater Hospital where he is continuing to receive treatment for multiple injuries.

"It’s understood from enquiries to date that his bike may have been struck from behind by a dark saloon type car while travelling out of the city. This car failed to remain at the scene.

"Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The particularly appealing to motorists with dash cam footage of the incident to make it available to them.
