Man, 27, sentenced after 'homemade weapon' found on him in prison

A prisoner must serve an extra eight months in jail after being sentenced for possession of a weapon.

Charlie Yeo, 27, originally from Exeter, Devon, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court last Thursday (October 31).

At 2.10pm on April 23 at HMP Ranby, , Yeo was being restrained by officers when what has been described as a 12-inch homemade weapon fell from his clothing.

This was recovered and seized.

Yeo admitted the charge and was handed an additional eight months to be served on top of an existing sentence for wounding with intent.

Police Sergeant Carl Holland, of , said: "We are pleased with the result as the weapon could have really hurt someone.

"Thankfully the weapon wasn't used and there were no injuries to anyone."
