Man, 26, due in court over alleged serious assault in Paisley

A man is due to appear in court over an alleged serious assault in Paisley.

It is claimed he attacked a 50-year-old man in the town's Broomlands Street on Thursday morning.

The street was taped off by officers for much of yesterday following the alleged incident.

Police Scotland said a man had now been arrested and charged.

A force spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault in the Paisley area.

"The incident took place around 9.15am on Thursday, May 6, on Broomlands Street.

"The man is expected to appear in court on Monday, May 10."
