Man, 26, dies after car he was a back seat passenger in ploughs into tree

A young man has died after a car ploughed into a tree in Trafford.

The black Audi S3 he was travelling in smashed into a tree on Warburton Lane, in Warburton, Partington, on Wednesday, December 11.

A 26-year-old man, who was sat in the back seat of the vehicle, died at the scene.

The 28-year-old driver of the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said he remains in hospital in a stable condition.

A third man sat in the front passenger seat escaped with minor injuries.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and no arrests have been made.

Police Constable Mark Ratcliffe, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of the young man who has passed away following the collision in Warburton last night.

“Our officers are working hard to determine the events leading up to this tragic incident and are appealing for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision to contact police as soon as possible.

“If you were on or around Warburton or Moss Lane at the time of the incident and may have heard or seen anything relating to the collision please contact police.”
