Man, 26, arrested for drug driving and possession of offensive weapon on Leeds Street

A 26-year-old man was arrested for drug driving and possession of an offensive weapon at the junction of Leeds Street and Vauxhall road.

The grey Vauxhall Insignia driver was stopped by Merseyside police at 10.50am this morning.

The man from the Derbyshire area was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, disqualified driving, no insurance and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was taken into custody where he was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug .

Merseyside Police said the car has been seized as enquiries continue.
 

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We stopped a Vauxhall Insignia on Leeds Street/Vauxhall Road, Liverpool, at 10.50am today.

The male driver, 26, from the Derbyshire area, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, disqualified driving, no insurance and possession of an offensive weapon.

"He was taken into custody where he was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug.

"The car has been seized as enquiries continue."
