Man, 25, sent back to prison after stealing Haribo sweets

A man is being sent back to prison after being charged with a string of offences in Southport.

Joshua Johnson, 25, of Royal Terrace in Southport, was arrested while on a train yesterday (July 13).

At around 2.15pm, police officers spotted Johnson on a Merseyrail train travelling towards Southport. He was detained at Bootle train station and arrested.

He has now been charged with burglary and threatening a person with a blade/knife in a public place and in connection with warrants.

The charges relate to offences earlier this month in Southport, including a burglary where Haribo sweets and knives were snatched from the Bridge Café on Hart Street.

Johnson will appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today (Wednesday), and will also be recalled to prison due to breaching licence conditions.
