A man was left with non life threatening injuries after a disturbance outside a popular bar in East Kilbride.
A large police presence was spotted at around 5.55pm on Rockhampton Avenue, close to The Westwood Bar, on Monday night (July 6).
A statement shared on the pub's Facebook page on Tuesday thanked customers for complying with safety regulations on the first day of the beer garden reopening and added that staff had "to assist the police with an extremely unfortunate incident which occurred out with the premises, above the square".
The full statement read: "The Westwood staff would like to thank all of our customers for the opening of our beer garden. Was lovely to see so many familiar faces again and thankfully the rain stayed at bay.
"We are very greatful to everyone adhering and respecting our Covid 19 government guidlines in keeping with the safety of our staff and customers. Look forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow.
"Our staff today were also helping to assist the police with an extremely unfortunate incident which occurred outwith the premises, above the square. The staff helped assist with the incident and people involved. Enquiries are still ongoing. Stay safe everyone."
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that a 25-year-old man was injured and enquiries are ongoing.
The spokesman said: "Police attended Rockhampton Avenue, East Kilbride around 5.55pm on Monday, 6 July, 2020, following the report of an assault.
A 25-year-old male sustained injuries which were not life threatening and enquiries are currently ongoing'.
