Man, 25, dies after being found unconscious in busy nightclub over bank holiday

A 25-year-old man died in a busy nightclub over the bank holiday weekend, it has emerged.

Police and ambulance crews were called to The Courtyard in Newport, Wales, in the early hours of Monday morning.

The man, who was found unconscious by fellow clubbers, was pronounced dead at the scene, Wales Online reported.

It is not clear how the he died, but initial reports suggest he may have fallen in the venue.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said: "At approximately 2.55am on Monday, August 26, Gwent Police were called to a report of a man unconscious at The Courtyard, Newport.

"Officers alongside colleagues from the South Wales Ambulance Service attended the scene, however, the 25-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time."

Courtyard owner Iftekhar Harris said: "Immediately we called the ambulance. Police, paramedics, and our first aiders were brilliant."

Mr Harris, 52, added the club was then slowly closed to customers early on the advice of the police.
