Man, 25, dies and woman, 18, in critical condition after taking 'dangerous and harmful drugs'

A man has died and a woman is critically ill in hospital after taking "dangerous and harmful drugs".

Police have issued a warning after a 25-year-old man died and an 18-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition, in the Cardiff area.

South Wales Police have launched an investigation into the supply of a "dangerous and harmful" drug which is believed to be linked to Ketamine following the incident.

They warned that "there is every possibility that they may contain a cocktail of toxic ingredients".

In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: "Users of controlled drugs should be aware that they can never be 100% sure of exactly what they are taking.

"These drugs are illegal and there is every possibility that they may contain a cocktail of toxic ingredients.

"The Wales Drug and Alcohol helpline – 0800 6 33 55 88 – provides a free and bilingual single point of contact for anyone wanting further information or help relating to drugs or alcohol."

Police are urging anyone with information relating to the use or sale of drugs to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
