Man, 25, died at Newport nightclub over bank holiday weekend

A man died at a nightclub in Newport over the bank holiday weekend, police have confirmed.

Police and ambulance crews were called to The Courtyard in Newport in the early hours of the morning on Monday, August 26.

Emergency services were called to reports of a man being being found unconscious at the Cambrian Road venue. The 25-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said: "At approximately 2.55am on Monday, August 26, Gwent Police were called to a report of a man unconscious at The Courtyard, Newport.

"Officers alongside colleagues from the South Wales Ambulance Service attended the scene, however, the 25-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time."

The ambulance service also confirmed they had attended The Courtyard shortly before 3am.

Courtyard owner Iftekhar Harris said: "Immediately we called the ambulance. Police, paramedics, and our first aider were brilliant."

Mr Harris, 52, added the club was then slowly closed to customers early on the advice of the police.
