Man, 25, dancing on top of moving truck dies after being hit by bridge

A man who was filmed dancing on top of a moving truck has died after he slammed into an oncoming bridge.

The incident occurred on Eastex Freeway in Houston, Texas, at around 11.30am on Thursday, November 10 when the unidentified man was knocked off the truck - to the horror of passing vehicles.

Footage recorded by a nearby driver on the freeway shows the man climbing on top of a white Rapid 18-wheeler truck and appearing to dance while onboard of the moving vehicle.

The man, believed to be aged 25, moves his hips and waves his arms in the air after he initially missed one overpass but he appeared to be looking to his right when he was struck by a second bridge.

According to Houston Police, the incident happened as the large truck travelled under Tuan Street Bridge.

It is thought that the man could have been filming himself on top of the heavy goods vehicle although there is no confirmation on this claim.

The driver of the lorry was questioned and released by Houston Police, who have now launched an investigation into the tragic incident, after he was found not to have been impaired.

It was reported by a local newspaper that the victim was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital but was pronounced dead at the scene.

A driver close to the incident told the Daily Mail about how she had to avoid the man's body. Crystal Davis was four vehicles behind the truck when the man was hit by the bridge.

She said: "I saw the blood chunks on the ground. I saw the contorted body and broken neck and arm. It was horrible way to begin a day."

Incidents of people riding on top of vehicles appear to have increased in the United States in the last few months, according to Metro.

A group of youngsters were snapped onboard moving subway cars in Brooklyn in June. One was captured dancing and others were walking between the subway cars while the rest were sitting on the edge.
