Man, 24, charged in connection with Burmantofts stabbing

A 24-year-old man has been charged over a stabbing in Leeds at the weekend.

Banokuthula Khanye, of Burmantofts Street, Leeds, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court today (Monday, June 15) after he was charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of a knife in relation to the incident in Rigton Approach, Burmantofts, on Saturday night (June 13).

West Yorkshire Police officers were called to the scene at 10.46pm and one male had sustained a stab wound.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, was rushed to hospital where he is continuing to receive treatment for injuries that are serious but not life-threatening,

Khanye was arrested at the scene and remained in custody.

He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court today (Tuesday). .

In a statemenet, police said: "Anyone with information or anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Leeds CID on 101, quoting log 2010."
