Man, 23, who died in horror crash named as tributes left at scene of tragedy

A young man who died in a horror crash in Droylsden has been named as Kieran Scollins.

The 23-year-old was injured in a crash on Edge Lane shortly after 1.30am on Saturday (August 7).

A Yamaha motorbike and a Polo VW car collided, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said.

Two men, aged 22 and 23, sustained serious injuries were both rushed to hospital but tragically, Mr Scollins died of his injuries.

The 22-year-old injured in the crash remains in a stable condition.

A file in relation to Mr Scollins' death has now been passed to Manchester Coroners' Court, a spokesperson for the coroner confirmed.

An inquest into his death will open at a later date.

Mr Scollins' family and friends have now left tributes for him at the scene of the crash on Edge Lane.

Several bouquets of flowers have been placed at the scene accompanied by touching notes.

One note read: "Kieran. Gone too soon. Fly high love Kelly and family."

Another said: "Night outs will never be the same. We will miss you forever mate."

Another note read: "Heartbroken that you left me but I hope you're in a better place."

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

After the incident, Sergeant Neil Pennington of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this incredibly distressing time and we wish a full recovery for the 22-year-old who is still in hospital.

"This collision happened in a residential area, so we are hopeful that people will have witnessed the collision and may have dash cam footage or CCTV footage of the incident.

"If you have any information at all about this collision please contact police as soon as possible."
