A 23 year old man who was attacked in Liverpool city centre is in a critical condition in hospital.
Police believe the young man may have been punched during an altercation on Hanover Street, outside City Buffet restaurant.
The incident happened at around 3.40am yesterday. A group of three men reportedly fled the scene in a blue-and-pink coloured Hackney cab.

Today police have said the man remains in a critical condition.
Police have arrested a 37-year-old man from Liverpool on suspicion of Section 18 assault. He is in custody for questioning by detectives.
A spokesperson for the force said: "A full investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing to trace the offenders involved.
"Police are particularly keen to speak to any taxi drivers from the nearby Hackney cab rank on Hanover Street, in case they have vital dashcam footage."
Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “We are working tirelessly to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this shocking and tragic incident.
"We appeal to anyone who has information to come forward as soon as possible. If you're a driver who was in the area of Hanover Street at the time of the incident, between 3.25am and 3.35am - let us know if you have dashcam footage which could help further our investigation."
