A MAN has been charged after a woman was raped in a Scottish town.
Police first received a report of a serious sexual assault in the Bridge Street area of Arbroath, in Angus, on June 6.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Saturday, June 6, 2026, we received a report of a serious sexual assault in the Bridge Street area of Arbroath.
“A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court at a later date.”
Police Scotland is aware of social media posts relating to the incident, confirming to The Courier that it did not involve "illegal migrants".
The age of the woman is not known, but The Courier reports she is an adult.
