A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a lawyer found dead at home on the Wirral.
The victim, Martin Decker, had suffered a severe head injury at the Prenton property.
Officers were called to a house in Vyner Croft, a luxury development off Boundary Road, near Bidston Hill, at around 5.20pm on Sunday.
They discovered the body of Mr Decker, 69, on arrival. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are not treating the murdered lawyer's high profile career as a 'significant' line of enquiry as they battle to establish his killer's motive.
Today Merseyside Police confirmed they have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder Mr Decker who had a decades-long career with the Crown Prosecution Service.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said this morning: "We have arrested a 23 year-old man on suspicion of murder following the death of 69 year-old Martin Decker in Wirral.
"The man, who is of no fixed abode, is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives."
The body of Martin Decker was discovered in the living room of his Wirral house by worried relatives.
His family then made a 999 to call to Merseyside Police at 5.20pm on Sunday evening.
Mr Decker was close to relatives, who became worried when they were unable to contact him on Sunday.
They then went to his home, in a converted water tower on the luxury Vyner Croft development.
The emergency services were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Decker had suffered a series of head injuries and a post mortem later revealed it was one of those that had caused his death.
A Home Office post mortem has since revealed the cause of death to be a "severe blunt force head injury".

Detectives probing Mr Decker's murder have said they are focusing on a key period of Saturday afternoon and evening.
The last conversation he is known to have had was with a friend on Saturday lunchtime.
An avid Tranmere Rovers supporter, it is thought his attention would then have been on the club's match with Crawley that kicked off at 3pm on Saturday.
That he did not contact friends to discuss the 1-0 defeat is being seen as unusual.
Police are therefore keen to develop their understanding of his movements on Saturday afternoon and evening.
Detectives investigating the murder of Mr Decker are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
