Man, 22, stabbed in the street in broad daylight

Emergency services were scrambled to a street in Leigh after a man was stabbed in broad daylight.

Police were called to Ludlow Drive, in the Higher Folds area, following reports of a stabbing at around 3pm on Tuesday (July 21).

Officers said enquiries have established that a 22-year-old man was approached by another man on nearby Balmoral Road, who then stabbed him.

A number of police vehicles, ambulances and an air ambulance attended at a private address in Ludlow Drive and took the 22-year-old man to hospital.

The man's injuries were non-life threatening and he has since been released.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) also confirmed that they are treating the incident as an isolated one.

A GMP spokesman said: "Police were called shortly after 3pm on Tuesday 21 July 2020 to a report of a stabbing on Ludlow Drive, Leigh.

"Emergency services attended and a man aged 22 was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

"It was established that the victim was approached by a second man on Balmoral Drive, who then stabbed him.

"No arrests have been made.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
