Man, 21, found hanging in Travelodge bathroom moments after checking into room

A young man found hanging after checking in a Travelodge hotel has been identified, a court heard.

Bailey Ridlington, 21, was found dead in the hotel bathroom after checking into the hotel in Haverhill on August 3.

The Essex Coroner's Court in Chelmsford has opened an inquest into his death on Friday, according to Essex Live .

Coroner's officer, Kerry Quill, said; "On August 3, 2019, at the Travelodge on Phoenix Road, Haverhill, Mr Ridlington was found hanging in the bathroom of a hotel room.

"Police carried out an investigation and confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances."

Dr Sundarsan carried out a post-mortem at Harlow Mortuary and recorded the cause of death as 'suspension by ligature pending toxicology'.

Senior coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray said: "The body can be released, I will need to see a copy of the post-mortem report and the toxicology results.

"I would like to see the police statement and of course the photographs, the family are also welcome to write in if they wish."

The court heard that Bailey was known to mental health services at the Essex Partnership University Foundation Trust.

A date for Bailey's full inquest has been scheduled for February 7, 2020.
