Man, 21, found dead at nature reserve as body discovered by dog walker

A 21-year-old man has been found dead at a nature reserve this morning, police have said.

Officers were called to Wince Brook, off Brow Avenue in Middleton, Alkrington, Greater Manchester, at around 7.10am.

It is understood the man's body was found by a dog walker, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Residents in the area said they were awoken by the sound of sirens early this morning.

An ambulance was rushed to the nature reserve, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police said enquiries are ongoing but the circumstances around the man's death are not considered to be suspicious.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called around 7.10am today (11 November) to a report of a body having been found close to Brow Avenue, Middleton.

"Emergency services attended and a 21-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death."

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We have attended the scene following a call from police at 7:15am, but we haven’t taken anyone to hospital."

Wince Brook nature reserve is located near Manchester.

It is a popular spot for dog walkers and also for locals to exercise.
