Man, 31, fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by car in Ponteland

A man is fighting for his life after being hit by a car in Ponteland.

The collision between the pedestrian and a white Ford Fiesta happened on Rotary Way at around 12.20am on Thursday.

Police said the Ford Fiesta was travelling from the direction of the nearby Badger Pub.

The 31-year-old pedestrian has been taken to hospital and is in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Police are keen for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact police via the Tell us Something pages on the Northumbria Police website or contact us on 101 quoting reference NP-20211230-0014."
