Man, 21, beaten and robbed in terrifying abduction in Paisley

A gang of masked thugs abducted a terrified young man before beating and robbing him.

The 21-year-old victim was ambushed in Paisley then driven to a quiet cemetery in Glasgow and subjected to a horrific ordeal.
The masked men grabbed him in the town’s Broomlands Street under the cover of dark, shortly before 9.30pm on Thursday.

He was driven to Langfaulds Cemetery where he was seriously assaulted.

Police believe it was a targeted attack and have called for witnesses to come forward and help them catch the brutes responsible.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross, of Paisley CID, told the Paisley Daily Express: “The level of violence and intimidation shown during this incident is shocking.

“We believe this was a targeted attack.

“We believe there were six suspects involved in this attack and they were seen driving a dark grey BMW X3 and a black Audi TT.”

The victim, who was walking with another two men at the time of the ambush, was forced into a dark grey BMW X3 and driven 10 miles to the cemetery on Baljaffray Road around 9.50pm.

He was threatened and assaulted again, with the brutes stealing his cash and mobile phone.

The suspects fled the scene in the BMW X3, along with another vehicle; a black Audi TT.

The victim received treatment for his injuries at hospital and was later released.

DI Ross added: “I’d urge anyone who witnessed the incidents in Broomlands Street or Langfaulds Cemetry to come forward and speak to officers.

“We’re especially keen for anyone who may have captured the incidents on dash cam or private CCTV to check their systems and provide relevant footage to us.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3412 of 2 December. Alternatively, an anonymous report can be given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
