Man, 21, arrested and four injured after major police response to stabbing at Worsley pub

A 21-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing at a pub in Worsley.

The Stocks Hotel, on Manchester Road, was cordoned off for almost 12 hours after police were called at around 10pm last night (Sunday).

Paramedics treated four people at the scene before taking them to hospital. One of them sustained serious injuries but is now in a stable condition.

A large area between Harriet Street and Egerton Road was closed off to the public and crime scene investigators were spotted outside the pub during the night.

Manchester Road was closed in both directions while officers dealt with the incident.

Police remained at the scene until 11am this morning when the cordon was removed.

In a statement, a spokesman for GMP said detectives believe this was not related to any other incidents in the area.

They said: "Just before 10pm on Sunday, August 23, police were called to reports of a stabbing on Manchester Road, Worsley.

"Emergency services attended and four people were taken to hospital, one of whom remains in a stable condition in hospital.

"A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault. He remains in custody for questioning.

"This is believed to be an isolated incident."

Pictures from the scene show a large emergency service response, with a number of police cars and ambulances parked in front of the pub.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the stabbing to come forward.

You can give information to an officer by calling 101 and quoting incident number 3191 of 23/08/2020.
