A newborn baby is currently receiving treatment in Temple Street Children's Hospital for serious injuries after an assault in Meath.
Gardai have arrested a man in his 20s following the assault which took place in Ashbourne at 7:00am on Monday.
A female also in her 20s received minor injuries during the assault.
The infant was taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital where the condition is described as serious but not life threatening.
The arrested man is currently being detained in Ashbourne Garda Station.
