Man, 20s, arrested after fatal stabbing in Wexford

A man was fatally stabbed in a shocking incident in Co Wexford last night.

The fatal assault occurred shortly after 8pm on Thursday in Westbury Woods, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.

Emergency services and gardai were called to the property where the body of a Polish man, who was in his 40s, was found with a knife wound.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 20s, who was in the house at the time and is believed to be known to the dead man, was arrested and is currently being held at Enniscorthy Garda Station.

Gardai are currently treating the incident as a suspicious death. The body remains at the scene pending the arrival of a pathologist from the State Pathologist’s office later this morning.

A post-mortem examination, which is expected to be carried out at University Hospital Waterford later today, will determine the direction of the Garda investigation.

Garda Technical Bureau members will carry out a full forensic examination of the scene throughout today.
