Man, 20s, arrested after drugs worth €200,000 seized following road checkpoint in Wexford

A man has been arrested after gardai seized drugs worth €200,000 in Co Wexford.

The suspect, aged in his 20s, was arrested after turning away from a checkpoint at Clonard, Wexford at around 12:10am on Monday morning.

A short time later, Gardaí arrested the man who was brought to Wexford Garda Station.

After searching the man's car, gardai discovered a significant quantity of suspected MDMA.

A follow-up search at a property in Wexford resulted in a substantial seizure of what is also believed to be MDMA.

In a third search, gardai in Wexford searched another car and another find of suspected MDMA was made.

A garda spokesman said: "It is estimated that the combined value of the drugs seized is approximately €200,000.

"Enquires are ongoing and it is anticipated that further arrests will be made."
