Residents rush to give first aid to man, 20, after 'stabbing' in Bolton street

A man has been rushed to hospital following reports of a 'stabbing' in Bolton.

Paramedics and police were called to an incident in Oxford Grove, in Heaton, on Thursday afternoon (June 24) at 3.50pm.

Officers established a cordon in the area, taping off a number of streets.

According to Greater Manchester Police, the victim was a 20-year-old male.

Witnesses say a resident gave first aid to the injured man, before he was treated by paramedics.

He was then taken to hospital to be treated for head and leg injuries, not believed to be life-threatening.

Two men have since been arrested in connection with the incident, police have confirmed.

Neighbours say they have been left frightened by the incident, saying they do not feel safe.

"It was happening near my daughter's house' she lives there with her five and three-year-old. It's very very worrying. Definitely does not feel safe," said resident Korrinne Boaro Howarth.

"The area isn’t safe anymore, only last week there was a fight with machetes at the shell garage just a few streets away."

The police tape was removed at around 8pm, according to witnesses.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At about 3.50pm on 24 June 2021, officers were called to reports a man had been stabbed at Oxford Grove, Bolton.

"A 20-year-old man was taken by ambulance to hospital with head and leg injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Two arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
