Man, 20, handed curfew order by sheriff court after assault conviction

An Ayrshire man has been made subject to a curfew order for the next six months after being convicted of assault.

Benn Pehluvan, 20, carried out the attack in Sannox View, Ayr and originally faced a further charge of endangering a person’s life.

The charge dates back to May 11, 2019 but Pehluvan, of Princes Court in the town pleaded guilty to a lesser charge on the indictment of assault to injury.

When he appeared for sentencing on Tuesday at Ayr Sheriff Court, Pehluvan was handed a community payback order.

It consisted of two years’ supervision, 200 hours of unpaid work in the community – to be completed within the next 12 months – and a restriction of liberty order, meaning he cannot leave his home address between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
