Part of Deansgate between Whitworth Street West and Liverpool Road was sealed off by police this morning (Friday).

A police cordon could be seen in place on Deansgate at the junction of Bridgewater Street.

Commuters were turned away from a car park which had also been taped off by officers.

A white sheet was erected near one of the buildings as officers and plain clothed detectives carried out their investigations.

Deansgate has since reopened and the cordon has been lifted.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Shortly after 7.30am this morning (Friday 24 September 2021), police were called by the ambulance service to reports of the concern for the welfare of a man on Deansgate, Manchester.
