Police are investigating an incident in which a man was allegedly attacked and robbed by a gang of eight people.
Gwent Police are undertaking enquiries after the 20-year-old man was allegedly attacked at about 6pm in the Pill Park area of Pillgwenlly, Newport - near the Pill Millennium Centre by a gang of approximately eight people.
The man had his watch, phone and a small amount of cash stolen and sustained facial injuries in the incident. He attended Royal Gwent Hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.
In a statement, Gwent Police said: "Officers are investigating an incident that took place in the Pill Park area yesterday, Wednesday 8 April, at approximately 6pm.
"A 20-year-old local man was attacked by a group of approximately eight people. He had his watch, phone and a small amount of cash stolen and sustained facial injuries.
"He attended the Royal Gwent Hospital for treatment but has since been released.
"Officers are undertaking enquiries. Anyone with information relating to this is asked to call 101 or contact Gwent Police via direct message on Facebook or Twitter, quoting 2000118751."
