An 18-year-old man was shot to death Monday in the East Side neighborhood, according to police.
He was standing on the street in the 10600 block of South Avenue O about 9 p.m. when he heard gunfire and realized he was shot, Chicago police said.
He was struck in the abdomen and leg, and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the death.
Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation, police said.
