A young man has died following a road accident in Co Cork on Saturday morning.
The single-vehicle collision occurred on the stretch of road between the the Lakeview Roundabout and the Old Youghal Road in Midleton, Co Cork.
According to Cork Beo, the man, aged 18, was rushed to Cork University Hospital but passed away on Sunday.
In a statement, gardai said: "Gardaí attended a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the N25 Castleredmond, Midleton, Cork," the statement reads.
"The incident occurred on the 10th August 2019 at approximately 1.20am.
"A man in his late teens was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital with serious head injuries where he later passed away on today's date.
"The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision investigators.
"The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will we arranged. A file will be prepared in accordance with the Coroners Act."
